Night Time Swing

Growing up with a swing in the garden was idyllic. I would spend many happy daytime hours with my feet untethered from the ground, daydreaming. I was unaware that my mother would sometimes do the same at night, something I learned as an adult years later.

A water colour picture of garden flowers in bloom surrounds a Lilac tree. A swing sweeps across the image.
The house is asleep I’m wide awake I step outside to contemplate I swing, gently, to and fro. The quiet night air listens My quandaries unravelling My thoughts go travelling. I swing, gently, to and fro. My garden, my solace. I am truly blessed My mind rests. I swing, gently, to and fro.
